Good News

It is important for everyone to have an understanding of God's Law before the Gospel or Good News will make sense. The purpose of the Law ( the Ten Commandments) is to teach us that we need a savior (Galatians 3:24). It shows us how we stand before a righteous & holy God. So, let's look at the Law and what the Bible has to say about sin & judgment.

The Bible says in Hebrews 9:27," And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment." You are going to die one day and then you will face the judgment of God. How will you be judged? You will be judged according to the Law (Romans 2:12). If you are guilty of breaking the Law you are guilty of sin (1 John 3:4). The Word of God says, "For the wages of sin is death;" ( Romans 6: 23). This is the punishment for breaking the commandments of God. It speaks, not only of physical death, but of an eternal death, "the second death" being "cast into the lake of fire" (Revelation 20: 14-15).

Let's see how you will do on Judgment Day. Have you ever told a lie? Have you stolen anything? Have you used God's name in vain? Jesus said, "That whoever looks on a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart." Have you looked with lust? If you have broken these four commandments (& you still have six more to go) God sees you as a liar, a thief, guilty of blasphemy (taking His name in vain), and adultery. You have sinned against God, death is the punishment (Ezekiel 18:4). Hell and the lake of fire will be your eternal destiny. God commanded for you to good and you chose evil over good.

But, what if there was a Way to have your sins forgiven? What if there was a Way to get right with God? What if there was a Way to escape the wrath of God and have peace with Him, to escape the fires of Hell and know that Heaven is your eternal destiny? If there was a Way would you want to know the Way?

Praise God! There is a Way! That's the Good News! That's the Gospel! Listen to the words of the Lord Jesus; "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life: no man cometh to the father ,but by me (John 14:6)."

God made it possible for guilty sinners to be forgiven. Jesus, the Christ, the Son of God is the Way! You and I have broken the Law, but Jesus came to pay our fine. He lived a sinless life, always doing the will of the Father, but when God made His Son "sin for us" (2Corinthians 5:21), He suffered and died because you and I deserve to suffer God's wrath and die for our sins (Isaiah 53:4-6). He took our place. He paid our fine with His sinless blood on the cross. Hebrews 9:22 says, "without shedding of blood is no remission (forgiveness)." This is what the cross is all about, God saving sinners through the death of His Son. Three days after the crucifixion, He rose from the grave, defeating sin and death. He is risen!

What must you do to be saved? Repent, turn from your sin and turn toward God. Stop rebelling against the Lord and start following the Lord. Jesus said , "except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish" (Luke 13:3). Confess your sins to God and ask Him for mercy and forgiveness (1 John 1:9 and Psalm 86:5). BELIEVE in the LORD JESUS! Receive Him as your Lord (master) and Savior. Put your faith in Christ! Trust Him!

John 3:16-18 - For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved. He that believeth on Him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

John 3:36 -He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

Flee the wrath to come! Pray today and ask God to forgive you of your sin and ask Jesus to be your Lord and Savior. Surrender your life to Him. Read the Bible and obey His Word!

May the Lord bless you with a knowledge of the Truth and a new life in Christ.
